Retainly

Wear it well. Care for it daily.

A simple guide to wearing, cleaning, and storing your clear retainer.

A simple routine for your smile

Handle gently. Store safely.

Follow the wear schedule prescribed by your orthodontist. This daily-care guide supports, rather than replaces, instructions specific to your retainer.

Your clinician’s plan comes first

Wear time varies from person to person; check before changing your schedule.

01 / WEARING

From your hands to your smile.

  1. Start with clean hands and teeth

Wash your hands and clean your teeth before putting your retainer back in.

  2. Seat it gently

Align the retainer with your teeth and gently seat it with your fingertips. Do not bite it into place.

  3. Remove without twisting

Gently loosen it from the back teeth on both sides, then lift it out. Avoid tugging from the front or twisting it.

Remove your retainer for food and drinks. Plain cool water is fine while wearing it.

02 / CLEANING

A gentle daily clean.

  1. Rinse with cool water

Clean your retainer every day. Avoid hot water, which can distort its shape.

  2. Brush gently

Use a soft brush and a little mild, fragrance-free liquid soap, if consistent with your clinician’s and manufacturer’s instructions.

  3. Rinse thoroughly

Rinse away all soap residue. For a dedicated retainer cleaner, follow the method and soaking time on its label.

Avoid abrasive toothpaste, bleach, and hot water. Use only cleaners suitable for your retainer.

03 / STORAGE

Keep its case close.

Out of your mouth? Into its case.

Put it in its protective case whenever you remove it. Avoid wrapping it in a tissue or leaving it loose in a pocket or bag.

Away from heat

Keep the case out of hot cars and away from heat sources and pets.
